Start a Program
As a Lead Mentor, you initiate the program, recruit alumni mentors, coordinate with your coach, and serve as the point person for each Goal Cycle. You are not doing this alone — On The Team provides structure, tools, and training.
PHASE 1
Secure Coach Alignment & Approval
Request a meeting with your coach.
Share the On The Team model and clarify how it supports athletes.
Confirm approval to launch the first Goal Cycle.
Estimated time: 1 hour across two weeks.
PHASE 2
Recruit & Train Alumni Mentors
Invite alumni to attend an information session.
Host alumni information session.
Share expectations and time commitment.
Ensure all mentors complete On The Team mentor training.
Estimated time: 1.5 hours across three weeks. The 3-hour training is run by On The Team.
PHASE 3
Recruit Athletes
Invite athletes to attend an information session.
Host a team information session.
Explain Goal Cycles and expectations.
Estimated time: 1 hour across two weeks.
PHASE 4
Match & Launch the Goal Cycle
Collect mentors availability for the upcoming Goal Cycle.
Open mentee registration for the upcoming Goal Cycle.
Use On The Team’s matching tool to create pairings.
Notify mentors and mentees.
Launch the 4-week Goal Cycle.
Check in weekly to support mentors.
Estimated time: 4 hours across 8 weeks.
PHASE 5
Evaluate & Build Momentum
Send post-cycle surveys to mentors and athletes.
Share insights with your coach.
Share celebrations with your mentors and mentees.
Back to Phase 4 for the next Goal Cycle.
Estimated time: 1 hour across one week.
